Orthodontic treatments for a perfectly aligned smile!
At Miko Dental, our Orthodontics Department views braces primarily as tools for correcting the improper positioning of teeth and jaws during chewing and speaking. Regardless of age, individuals seeking perfectly aligned teeth—be they children, teenagers, or adults—often hesitate when considering orthodontic treatment, even though they are concerned about aesthetics and desire a perfect smile.
The most effective method to correct teeth alignment is through the application of braces, which are designed to straighten teeth. We assure you that modern technologies allow the braces used in our clinic to be discreet, barely noticeable, if not almost invisible, and the discomfort of wearing them is minimal!
TYPES OF BRACES
Braces come in various materials: metal, ceramic, sapphire, and clear plastic (TruGEN™). They differ in appearance and functionality: fixed or removable braces. Regardless of your current bite or teeth positioning, all types of braces help move teeth and adjust the growth of the jaw and its connected muscles. Both fixed and removable invisible braces work by applying forces in the desired direction to align teeth and jaws.
ORTHODONTIC TREATMENTS WITH FIXED BRACES
Fixed orthodontic braces generally consist of metal, ceramic, or sapphire brackets applied directly to the teeth and connected by thin wire arches. These are progressively replaced during treatment by the orthodontist and exert the necessary force for the correct movement and alignment of the teeth. Fixed braces can only be applied, adjusted, and removed by an orthodontic specialist.
⛓️ Metal Braces: Traditional metal braces are the most effective for treating all types of dental malformations, although they are more noticeable than other types. The treatment is generally quicker than with other models.
⛋ Ceramic Braces: Increasingly popular, ceramic braces are almost as effective as metal ones but differ in appearance.
💠 Sapphire Braces: These are as effective as metal braces and are preferred by younger patients for aesthetic reasons.
DURABILITY
⛓️ Metal Braces: Highly resistant to the force generated during orthodontic treatment, recommended for more complex cases.
⛋ Ceramic Braces: Slightly more fragile than metal ones, they can chip or crack during chewing.
💠 Sapphire Braces: Extremely durable due to sapphire being one of the hardest minerals.
AESTHETICS
💠 Sapphire Braces: The ideal solution for aesthetics, as their brackets are virtually transparent and remain intact throughout the treatment period.
⛋ Ceramic Braces: Often preferred for aesthetic reasons, as their color matches that of teeth, making them more discreet and less noticeable than metal braces.
⛓️ Metal Braces: Less aesthetic but still trendy among younger generations and teenagers who choose colorful elastic modules.

REMOVABLE BRACES – SPARK™ CLEAR ALIGNER
This type of brace has revolutionized dentistry, being a detachable, customized orthodontic device. Unlike traditional braces with brackets, SPARK™ Clear Aligner is invisible, consisting of a series of clear aligners designed to straighten teeth and resolve various malocclusions.
The clear aligners are usually computer-generated from a mold or impression of the patient’s teeth using a 3D intraoral scanner, providing an extremely precise impression of the mouth. Moreover, patients can see their future smile at the end of the treatment.
Thanks to this scanning technology, a personalized series of clear aligners can be created.
The aligners are thin and transparent, made from highly durable, hypoallergenic TruGEN™ plastic, which surrounds the teeth entirely. This makes the device easy to wear and, more importantly, to remove.
To be fully functional, the SPARK™ Clear Aligner should ideally be worn for 22 hours a day and removed only for eating and daily oral hygiene.
The treatment is completely painless, non-invasive, and does not affect the patient’s speech or phonetics.
Depending on the case, the clear aligners should be changed every two weeks autonomously for a period ranging from 6 to 18 months.
